I Saw, I Liked

Good Vegan Progression #1, 2005, mixed media on felt, 118" x 123".
Collection of Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, MO.

Good Vegan Progression #1, detail.
Being a collage freak, I am crazy about these pieces. So inventive and monumentally beautiful.

Al Held at the Chazen Museum of Art. I was on a job in Madison and was able to quicky tour
the museum. I was pleasantly surprised to find this painting, Untitled, approximately 60"x60", acrylic on canvas.

Al Held has a masterful way of handling space. Forms cut into the paint and constantly
vibrate between the foreground and background. Whenever I encounter a Held painting,I am
always in awe of his precision and compositions. Truly amazing.

Al Held. detail. The linear rectangle on the left, although it appears to be in the foreground,
was apparently the first element he painted, and cuts through the surface.
